Brenneke provides powerful solutions
to the most demanding urban threats

These days, threats come in all shapes and sizes… presenting the professional with  unprecedented challenges. The purpose of any law enforcement projectile is to put an end to the threat as quickly, efficiently, and safely as possible. No other projectile accomplishes this task as thoroughly as a Brenneke® 12 gauge slug. Recognizing the unique challenges posed by modern urban crime and terrorism, we have created several slugs designed to address virtually any situation the professional will encounter…from the controlled penetration of our Tactical Home Defense®, ideal for crowded environments where excess penetration can be dangerous to bystanders, to our Special Forces Maximum Barrier Penetration Magnum™, proven in extensive testing to penetrate windshields, wheel rims, tires and even engine blocks.

Accuracy is outstanding to 100 yards and beyond. Stopping power is instant, producing energy far beyond that of any handgun and many centerfire rifle cartridges. The threats will keep coming. Brenneke® slugs will keep stopping them.

Brenneke vs. other projectiles

No other commonly used law enforcement projectile even comes close to the stopping power produced by Brenneke slugs. The data compares our Tactical Home Defense® and Maximum Barrier Penetration Magnum™—at the opposite ends of our penetration and power spectrum—to popular handgun and centerfire loads.

As you will see, there really is no comparison.

Penetration vs. expansion

The design demands of a quality shotgun slug are entirely different from those of a pistol or rifle bullet. Many slug manufacturers proudly show photos of their completely flattened fired projectiles, touting their “expansion.” This can be an effective principle in bullets, but is the exact opposite of what a slug should do. Rapidly expanding slugs are a result of soft, inferior alloys. Penetration can be virtually nil, stopped or deflected by any hard object.

By comparison, Brenneke slugs expand very little. Their harder alloys and the uniquely shaped noses allow vastly superior penetration, a stable and consistent path after impact, and almost complete retention of the projectile’s integrity with minimal weight loss. Independent tests of Brenneke projectiles against major competitors showed that some slugs penetrated ballistic gelatin a mere 11.2 inches…compared to as much as 42.5 inches for Brenneke.

Expansion is fine if your target is no more dangerous than a deer. Otherwise, rely upon a projectile that finishes the job.

Home Protection

Most hunters would agree that we face more dangerous threats in an urban environment that we’ll ever experience in the field. Hunters also tend to take the protection of theirhomes and families very seriously… which is why we offer several products specifically designed for that purpose.
