Deer Hunt with K.O. slugs

I had been hunting for about a week and a half and had not done any good...

I went over to my uncle’s property to hunt. We found a good tree to sit in.

The next morning at 4am I was climbing up my tree. I sat all day without seeing a buck; I saw about 10 does. I decided this would be a good place to hunt again the next day.

Early the next morning I had two does that came from the north. An hour later I had two from the south. The wind was blowing hard, and it was hard for me to hear. To my left I heard some branches break. Off the hillside toward me ran a buck.

My uncle had told me the day before that sometimes he would have to holler as loud as he could to get a buck to stop. I knew that this was probably the only chance I had to stop the deer so I tried it. I hollered once and it slowed down; the second time he stopped 79 yards away.

The instant he stopped I had the gun and scope behind his shoulder. Without thinking about it I squeezed the trigger. The next thing I saw was red. It was the blood coming off my cheek where the scope had cut the skin under my eye.

When I got my composure I saw the deer running up the hill into some treetops. I called my uncle and he told me to sit for about 30 minutes, just in case. In a little while my uncle came up to where I was sitting in the tree.

I showed him where I had shot at the deer and he walked to that spot to see if he could find a blood trail. Instantly, he motioned me down and started walking away from me up the hill.

By the time I got to him he had found the deer. The blood trail was at least 3 feet wide. The Brenneke KO slug had made a total pass through taking out both lungs and the top of the heart. It left a blood trail that we could track at a fast walk. As you can see, it is a nice 9 point buck.

If you look close enough, my right eye has a cut underneath it. I’ll never use anything but your KO slugs. I’m sold on them.
